MY FEELINGS II
Still not being able to sleep, I decided to make some research on Jonathan Safran Foer. The new YouTube feature of playing a related video when the one you were watching ends brought me to a documentary on the phone calls from the towers in what Oskar, of course, calls "the worst day".
I was so struck by the family members' witnesses. I remember when it happened, I couldn't really understand what was happening, probably nobody could. I sat in next to my dad, in front of my mum, and we watched the same images over and over again. Maybe because I was too young to comprehend, it didn't feel real. After some time, and especially now after having read Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and having watched the documentary, it feels awfully real.
I leave you with Wendy's words.
"What I'd like people to learn from listening to the recording is that life is short, that you never know when you're gonna lose your loved ones and to spend every minute you can showing them that love." Wendy Cosgrove, Kevin's wife.
Kevin was called "the voice from the towers", he was speaking when the South tower collapsed.
It's 4:02 AM.
